InStyle July Cover

Anne Hathaway graces the cover of July's InStyle, and I'm loving this issue! In addition to the fabulous editorial starring Anne styled by one of my favorites, Rachel Zoe, this month's issue is my favorite InStyle in recent memory. There's a fun (and accurate) quiz to identify your personal style (mine was a tie- the Sophisticate and the Trendsetter). Also in the issue, full page profiles on style icons including Sienna Miller, Carolina Herrera, Catherine Malandrino, and Georgina Chapman. One particularly sparkly spread was a four-page glimpse into Donatella Versace's jewelry box

ick...

The blog title "Interpretation" comes from my philosophy that, in fashion, interpretation is essential and imitation is often lazy, and sometimes downright criminal. In the past few weeks I've come across a number of websites claiming to sell authentic designer bags at discount prices. When I found a site offering Birkins for just over $1,000, I knew the offer was too good to be true, so I did a little research. Each time I found a site boasting too good to be true offers, I googled the site. As I expected, I found plenty of comments from shoppers who were duped by these fraudulent sites. It's awful that people create business based on stealing the name of renowned designers and lying to customers. Remember if an offer sounds too good to be true it probably is. Think about it- if VIP Hermes customers are placed on waiting lists for months at a time, how could any site offer a huge selection of that same bag. It's near impossible to shut down every counterfeit merchandise provider, especially with more and more popping up on the Internet, so be a responsible and wary consumer.
If you find any sites passing off imitations as the real thing, leave a comment with site's name here.

Re: Travel Style

I know I said I would post travel style tips as soon as I got myself packed and ready to go last week, but I was enjoying my time with family so much I just didn't get around to it. Judging by the zero comments on the blog though, I don't think many of you cared. So it's a new week, I'm back at home and ready to resume regular posting. Hopefully you're ready to read! xxoo

Travel Style

The best thing about traveling is you get better at it each time you do it. I'm off tonight to visit with family and get away from the Dallas heat. Though I've gotten much better at it over all, I always seem to leave the bulk of my packing and errands to the last minute. Once I've gotten myself all ready to jet I'll post some of the travel tips I've picked up over the last few years from some glamorous jet-setting friends and my own on-the-go experience. For now, see how the stars travel in style at InStyle.com:

Luxurious Lesson

Earlier I wrote about how tying a scarf on a favorite bag can be original and glamorous. Now I want to share this lesson with you courtesy of one of my favorite blogs, bagsnob.com.

Part one offers step by step instructions for how to wear gorgeous Hermes scarves as tops, while part two demonstrates different methods of using the scarves as accents on the bloggers' favorite Hermes bags.

The chic Dallas bloggers are huge Hermes fans so the bags in the photos are all Hermes, but don't fret, the tricks work on almost any bag, not just the expensive ones.

Another way to get the luxe look for less is to visit a fabric store and find a pattern or material you love and have it cut to the dimensions of the Hermes versions. Then take the material to a tailor to have the sides finished (or do it yourself).

Thanks to the bagsnobs for these timeless tips!

Fashionably Speaking

"Always be more important than your clothes."

-Paris Hilton

I'll be honest, I'm not always a fan of Ms. Hilton's style, but I am a fan of this quote. The look above is one that I do like. Making the LBD perfect for daytime, Paris looks chic pairing crave-worthy aviators with a hairstyle I'll definitely be recreating (or trying to).
